Veramin is a small town in a prosperous agricultural district southeast of Teheran. Carpets are produced in the town itself and in the surrounding villages. Nearly all Veramin rugs have an all-over design. All the designs have names, the commonest, which is based on adjoining circles, is the Mina-Khani design. The pile is always wool, the warp and weft always cotton. All colours are found, but Veramin designs are characteristically calm and restful, and violent combinations of colours are never found.
