Asian-Rugs

Asian rugs typically refer to rugs deriving from a chinese origin. They are usually thick in pile, heavy and dense. Asian rugs, commonly referred to as chinese rugs, tend to contain patterns with obvious meanings such as the medallion they all tend to contain, this refers to the shou character. It is a sign of longevity and long life. Most designs are carved, albeit this does not necessarily mean the pile becomes inferior for chinese rugs usually have extra thick piles. Chinese rugs are primarily influenced by buddhism, taoism and confucianism hence the motifs which posses literal meanings.
